Playrooms Tools, Ball Vacuums, and Cleaning Robots
Compare Playrooms tools, understand the three vacuum types, prioritize useful upgrades, and learn the reported workaround for balls stuck in walls.
Which Playrooms tools should you use first?
A new vacuum can seem disappointing until you unlock the upgrade that makes it collect balls automatically. Understanding Playrooms tools helps you spend your earnings on equipment that actually speeds up cleaning. Start by improving hand collection, add the broom for large piles, and combine Playrooms tools as your routes get longer.

The gameplay details below draw on player experience from a full-game playthrough recorded before public launch. Later official information takes priority, particularly the launch update allowing two tools to be carried at once.
Think of Playrooms tools by the job they perform:
| Tool or system | Supported role | Main consideration |
|---|---|---|
| Hand collection | Picks up balls for manual delivery | Remains useful for scattered balls and awkward spots |
| Push broom | Moves piles toward collection equipment | Needs upgrades to handle larger loads efficiently |
| Ball vent | Receives balls and transfers them to pits | A fixed collection point with its own upgrades |
| Placeable Ball Suction Device | Accepts balls and uploads them to pits | Called Ball Vacuum in the footage; automatic suction requires an upgrade |
| Handheld vacuum | Separate equipment appearing later in the shop | Its operation is not demonstrated in the reviewed footage |
| Robot vacuum | Moves around collecting balls and returns to its dock | Depends on battery, capacity, travel, and unloading |
| IS-95 scanner | Reveals nearby unstored balls | Limited range and a recharge period |
| Flashlight | Helps illuminate darker areas | Brightness and range can be upgraded |
The official progression loop connects these purchases: collecting balls earns currency, filling pits unlocks abilities, and keys open additional areas. Equipment works best when each purchase addresses the part of that loop currently slowing you down.
THE BACKROOMS NEED CLEANING, WE'RE THE GUY | Playrooms FULL GAME PART 1 — Sonoket Gaming

Build around hand collection, the broom, and vents
Early spending on Playrooms tools should address the delay you encounter most often. If you collect too slowly, improve pickup. If your pockets fill immediately, increase carrying capacity. If transporting large piles consumes the shift, the broom becomes more useful.
In player experience, Ball Magnet increases the number of nearby balls collected per pickup, Big Pockets expands carrying capacity, and Quick Grab improves pickup speed. Those upgrades remain relevant after buying equipment because you can load manually collected balls into the placeable vacuum.
Match broom upgrades to the problem
The playthrough shows an important transition: an unupgraded broom initially delivers disappointing results compared with upgraded hands. Its performance improves substantially as its upgrade branches develop.
| Broom upgrade | Effect described in player experience | When to consider it |
|---|---|---|
| Load | Increases how many balls the broom can push | Your intended pile exceeds the broom’s handling capacity |
| Push Tempo | Improves movement speed while pushing | Moving a pile feels slow |
| Sweep Width | Widens the broom head | You want to gather balls across a broader strip |
| Flick | Sends the pile forward when released | You want additional movement at the end of a push |
A useful approach is to clear a route toward the collection point before moving another pile into it. The footage repeatedly shows congestion when one large pile meets another. Opening a usable path and working along it avoids spending the shift rearranging the same obstruction.
Keep the vent in pace with the broom
The vent has separate upgrades for suction force, intake reach, intake speed, and throughput. In the footage, throughput determines how many balls it can accept together, while intake speed affects how quickly balls enter.
Watch the collection point after a delivery. If balls accumulate there while your broom already handles piles comfortably, consider vent upgrades before another broom purchase. This is a practical recommendation based on the observed slowdown, rather than a proven universal upgrade order.
Understand the placeable Ball Suction Device and handheld vacuum
Among Playrooms tools, the vacuum names cause the most confusion. Keep three categories separate: the placeable Ball Suction Device, the handheld vacuum, and the robot vacuum. The fixed floor vent is another distinct collection system.
The large placeable device is called Ball Vacuum in the playthrough. It accepts manually collected balls and uploads them to the ball pits. That makes it useful as a nearby delivery point while you continue cleaning farther from the main pits.
Why the placeable vacuum may seem inactive
Player experience shows that automatic suction is not active immediately. The description read during the playthrough states that the first Intake Speed level enables suction mode.
Before judging the purchase, check its upgrade state. Once suction is enabled, placing it beside accessible balls lets it collect while you work elsewhere nearby.
| Placeable vacuum upgrade | Supported function | Problem it addresses |
|---|---|---|
| Intake Speed | Enables suction at its first level and improves ball intake movement | The device is not automatically collecting, or intake is slow |
| Intake Reach | Extends collection distance | Nearby balls remain outside its reach |
| Upload Speed | Speeds transfer from the tank to ball pits | Stored balls take too long to clear |
| Tank Size | Expands storage capacity | The device fills while processing a large supply |
In the footage, placement requires a clear patch of floor. Clear a spot beside the pile, position the device, and bring balls within reach. Hand collection also remains useful for feeding it from places where sweeping is awkward.
Intake and upload solve different problems. If the tank stays full, faster collection alone will not resolve the slow transfer. Consider upload speed when the device accepts balls faster than it sends them onward.
What is confirmed about the handheld vacuum?
The handheld vacuum appears as a separate shop option after the school-building key is purchased in the reviewed player experience. The player does not buy and demonstrate it during this recording.
Its capacity, controls, upgrade behavior, and comparative performance therefore remain unconfirmed here. There is no supported basis for calling it a replacement for the broom or the placeable device.
Use robot vacuums as part of a working route
Automated Playrooms tools can collect while you handle another task, but their usefulness depends on access to balls and the dock. In player experience, robots collect, return when full, unload, recharge, and sometimes require help after getting stuck.
Place them where they can reach work early in the shift. Check their movement before leaving them to it: a robot repeatedly struggling against an obstruction contributes little, regardless of how much cleaning remains elsewhere.
| Robot upgrade | Function shown or described |
|---|---|
| Bigger Battery | Increases battery capacity |
| Robot Tank | Increases carrying capacity |
| Fast Charge | Reduces charging time |
| Turbo Motor | Improves movement speed |
| Quick Unload | Speeds tank emptying |
| Robot Stacking | Allows carrying multiple robot vacuums |
Choose upgrades according to what you observe. Frequent charging makes battery and charging improvements relevant. Long travel or unloading periods point toward motor speed or quick unloading. Buying more robots does not automatically solve those delays.
The playthrough includes multiple robots and charging stations, but it does not establish a reliable required ratio. Avoid planning purchases around an assumed rule that every robot must have its own dock.
Two-tool carrying is an official launch feature
The developer’s official launch announcement confirms that players can carry two tools at once.
That update matters because the earlier footage includes difficulty transporting different equipment together. Treat those moments as observations from that recording. Robot Stacking remains a separately described upgrade for carrying multiple robot vacuums; the announcement does not explain every interaction between stacking and two-tool carrying.
Use the scanner and flashlight to finish difficult areas
Two Playrooms tools become especially relevant when obvious piles are gone: the scanner helps locate remaining balls, and the flashlight improves visibility in darker spaces.
In player experience, the IS-95 inventory scanner reveals nearby unstored balls. Its range is limited, it needs time between scans, and scan range can be upgraded. An apparently empty room may still contain a stray ball, so use the scanner before assuming the room is complete.
The flashlight has brightness and beam-range upgrades. Treat it as a visibility aid: the reviewed evidence does not establish it as protection after blackout. Keep enough time to return to the break room, especially when your route crosses several areas.
A reported workaround for balls stuck in pool-room walls
Launch-week community reports describe balls trapped inside pool-room walls, including near a floor vent. A developer reply acknowledged the reported bug and requested save files and screenshots for investigation.
Several players reported recovering those balls with the large placeable vacuum. Their workaround was to:
- Locate the trapped balls with the scanner.
- Position the placeable vacuum close to the affected wall.
- Give it time to collect them.
- Try additional intake reach if the balls remain outside its effective range.
These reports specifically identify the standing device. They do not establish the handheld vacuum or robot vacuum as equivalent solutions. Results also vary: some players could not recover the balls, while others reported success. Community reports and developer response about trapped pool-room balls.
Treat this as a reported workaround, not a guaranteed fix. The reviewed evidence does not confirm that a later patch resolved every affected location.

Playrooms tools FAQ
What should you prioritize before buying more equipment?
Improve the task consuming most of your shift. Early player experience supports pickup and carrying upgrades, followed by the broom for moving piles. Once you have a working broom and collection point, check whether movement, intake, or unloading is the actual delay before spending again.
How do you unlock a second Ball Suction Device?
The exact requirement is unresolved in the reviewed evidence. One community report describes a purchase message about another full tank, but the player says further filling did not unlock the purchase. That report does not establish a reliable tank requirement or a confirmed bug diagnosis. Unresolved second-vacuum purchase report.
Do hand upgrades become useless after getting a vacuum?
No. Player experience shows manual collection remaining useful around awkward geometry and in the pool rooms. Collected balls can be delivered to the placeable vacuum, so better pickup and carrying capacity can still support an equipment-heavy cleaning routine.
Is the handheld vacuum the tool players use for trapped balls?
The successful community reports identify the large placeable Ball Vacuum or Ball Suction Device. They explicitly distinguish it from the handheld vacuum. Positioning that device near the wall, with sufficient intake reach, helped several players, but the workaround did not succeed for everyone.
